Hyuganatsu

Hyuganatsu (Scientific name: Citrus tamurana) is an evergreen shrub and fruit tree belonging to the citrus family, native to Japan. The branches have thorns. In Hyuga (now Miyazaki Prefecture), it was seeded by chance during the Edo period. The fruit is a sweet, juicy, edible citrus fruit. In early summer, small fruits are formed in a spherical shape with a yellow pericarp and smooth surface. The fruit peels off the yellow rind and eats the flesh with the white part inside (not the peel). Cultivated in Kochi Prefecture and other prefectures, Konatsu , Tosa Konatsu, and New Summer Orange.
