What is Breadfruit
Breadfruit (Scientific name: Artcarpus altilis) is native to Polynesia and is a tropical evergreen tall tree of the family Moraceae. The fruits contain carbohydrates and are the staple food in the Pacific Islands. The leaves are green and the leaves are palmate 7, 8 deep. Both female and male flowers are attached to the same tree. The female flower is spherical and spiked, and the male flower is rod-shaped. The fruit is similar to the jack fruit of the same genus, and the surface is rough. The fruits are spherical in shape and initially green in color but turn yellow when ripe. The fruit diameter is about 20 to 30 cm, which is about the size of the head of a child. It is eaten with white flesh that appears when peeled off, but it is rich in starchy quality, and it is cooked by heating, steaming, baking, fermenting flavor meat such as potato or sweet potato. Breeding is done at seeding and rooting. The trees are street trees, park trees, and tropical foliage, and the flesh is food.
