Neoregeria cruenta (Scientific name: Neoregeria cruenta) is a semi-cold tolerant, succulent, evergreen perennial plant of the family Bromeliaceae. It has rosetta-like root leaves, is thick, and has thorns on the leaf edges. It has a structure where water is collected in a short tube at the center of the stock, and light purple flowers bloom from spring to summer. During the flowering period, the central base of the green leaf turns reddish purple, and a small purple flower blooms at the root where rainwater has accumulated.
Neoregeria carolinae (N. carolinae) usually have green root leaves that are not noticeable, but the leaves in the central part turn red during flowering.
