What is Achillea tomentosa
Achillea tomentosa or woolly tomentosa(scientific name: Achillea tomentosa) is a small perennial herb of the genus Achillea (Asteraceae), native to southern Europe and western Asia, including Switzerland, Croatia, Italy, France, and Spain.
It grows wild in sunny meadows. It grows in clumps with underground stems. Its herbage is 10-30 cm tall and its stem leaves are covered with white hairs. Its leaves are twice pinnately compound and alternate.
In summer, it produces a bouquet-like inflorescence at the top of the stem with yellow head flowers 5-7.5 cm in diameter.
The genus name "Achillea" is derived from the Greek hero Achilles, and "tomentosa" means "wooly hairs.
