Monarch of the veldt, Namaqualand arctotis , Iceland daisy, Cape daisy or Arctotis fastuosa (scientific name: Arctotis fastuosa, synonym: Venidium fastuosum) is a semi-cold hardy annual herb native to South Africa and Nambia and belonging to the Asteraceae family, the Asteraceae. It is also known by the names Monarch of the veldt, Namaqualand arctotis , Iceland daisy, Cape daisy, arctotis, venidium, and venidium. It used to be called "Venidium/Venidium" but is now called "arctotis.
The plant is 30-70 cm tall with many branches growing from the ground. The leaves are 15 cm long, pinnately lobed, deeply lobed, lanceolate, and covered with silver hairs, giving them a light gray-green color.
