What is Oyobe gikyo
Oyobe gikyo (scientific name: Campanula chamissonis 'Oyobe gikyo') is native of Shikota to Hokkaido, and it is deciduous perennial of the family Campanulaceae. The plant height is low because it grows naturally in the rocky area of Alpine. Root leaf is shiny green color. In the summer, the inflorescence is extended from the flower stalk, and a large deep blue purple flower blooms sideways for the plant height. In Greek , the genus Campanula is 'campana' (small bell), species name chamissonis is a contribution to Dr. A. von Chamisso, a German botanist. It is one of the varieties of Chishima gikyo (Scientific name: Campanula chamissonis) as well as Shakotan gyoku (Scientific name: Campanula chamissonis 'Shakotan gikyo').
