What is Citrus hanayu
Citrus hanayu or yuzu(scientific name: Citrus hanayu) is a cold-resistant evergreen shrub of the tangerine family, Citrus aurantium, native to China and Japan. Its flowers are self-fruiting, so it bears fruit even when grown alone, and it ripens early, so it can be harvested within a few years after planting. C. hanayu produces white, five-petaled flowers in leaf axils or at the ends of branches in May. It has about 20 stamens. It ripens earlier than Yuzu or citrus junos (scientific name: citrus junos) , which is called the hon-yuzu, and the fruit is smaller and less fragrant.
Fruiting period
C. hanayu (C. hanayu) flowers and bears fruit from young trees.
C. junos (C. junos) takes 5 to 15 years from sowing.
Tree height
C. hanayu (C. hanayu) is 200-500 cm tall.
C. junos (yuzu): 300-1000 cm
Fruit weight
C. junos (yuzu): 110-130g
C. hanayu weighs 40 to 50 grams, so C. hanayu is about 2/3 to 1/2 the weight of C. junos.
