What is Eupatorium japonicum
Eupatorium arakianum (Eupatorium × arakianum) is a hybrid between Eupatorium japonicum and Sawa-fujibakama. The stem is erect and branching at the base. It is a garden variety that resembles Fujibakama and is marketed under the name of Fujibakama. Its flowers are fragrant, and asagimadara (Asagi tadara) fly to this plant.
Difference between E. arakianum (Sawa-fujibakama) and E. japonicum(fujibakama)
Fujibakama (E. japonicum) has light red flowers, while E. arakianum (Sawa-fujibakama, Eupatorium lindleyanum var. lindleyanum) has dark red flowers.
