What is Goodyera pusilla
Goodyera pusilla (scientific name: Goodyera pusilla) is a semi-cold hardy herb native to Northeast Asia (Malaysia, Java, Borneo Sumatra, New Guinea, etc.), belonging to the genus Goodyera in the orchid family. The genus Gudiera was first described by Dr. Blume in 1858. In its native habitat, it grows in the shade on sandstone soil at altitudes of 0-1000m. The plant is 3-20 cm tall and 5 cm wide, with a light brown petiole and 4 or 5 leaves at the base. The leaves are 2-6 cm long and 1-3 cm wide, elongated, ovate to elliptic, with sharply pointed tips and a rounded base. The leaf color is dark brown with intricate white veins and a conspicuous green lamella that is densely inserted along the main veins. It is a member of the "Jewel Orchid" family of orchids, whose leaves shine like jewels when the spotlight shines on them, and the leaves are appreciated more than the flowers. The flowers are produced in 5 to 7.5 cm inflorescences, with about eight white flowers per inflorescence, and bloom irregularly. Some people cut it off before it flowers.
