What is Juniperus rigida

Juniperus rigida temple juniper、needle juniper, or nezu (scientific name: Juniperus rigida), native to China, Mongolia, Korea, Japan, and Russia, is an evergreen needle-leaved shrub in the genus Juniperus of the family Cupressaceae. The leaves are needle-like with pointed tips that are painful to touch. The leaves are arranged in a ring with three leaflets per leaf and a white stomatal band on the leaf surface. It is dioecious and flowers in spring. Male flowers are produced at the base of each leaf in two pale yellow, pinecone-like inflorescences. Female flowers are reddish brown at the tips of branches.
