What is Ito susuki
Ito susuki or Miscanthus sinensis 'Gracillimus' (scientific name: Miscanthus sinensis 'Gracillimus') is a cold hardiness perennial grass of the genus Miscanthus (Poaceae) native to Japan, the Korean Peninsula, Taiwan, and China. It is a thin awn with a leaf width of only 0.5 cm and a height of 30-120 cm, which is one-half to two-thirds the height of awn. The leaves, which are produced in large numbers from the root and stem, are green, linear, slender, and painful to the touch because of the bristly hairs on the leaf margins. The branches are well branched, and from September to November, small, lanceolate, silvery-white spikes grow densely from the branches. The tips of the small ears are 0.3 cm long, and a 0.8 to 1.2 cm long glume protrudes from the tip of the ear. After the flower, a yingkoi fruit is produced. When the plant goes dormant in winter and the above-ground parts wither, trim a few centimeters from the ground, and new shoots will grow the following spring in a beautifully arranged state.

The genus name "Miscanthus" is a compound of the Latin words "mischos" and "anthos" (flower), the species name "sinensis" means "Chinese" and the variety name "gracillimus" means "very delicate, very long and slender.
