Peliosanthes macrostegia (scientific name: Peliosanthes macrostegia) is an evergreen perennial in the family Asparagaceae native to Taiwan and China. In spring and early summer, racemes inflorescence extends from the flower stalk and produces purple petals with small yellow-tipped small fishing bell-shaped flowers pointing downward. The spherical blue fruits are sparsely formed after flowering. The broad, elongated, oval leaves stand out. The name of the flower comes from Alishan in Taiwan, the place of origin. It is similar to Cast-iron Plant(Haran, scientific name:Aspidistra elatior), but it is a different genus.
