What is Philodendron
Philodendron (scientific name: Philodendron) is an evergreen perennial to semi-arboreal subshrub in the genus Philodendron of the family Araceae, native to the West Indies and South America.
The genus name "Philodendron" is a compound of the Latin words "philo" (love) and "dendron" (tree), and is derived from its ability to twine around trees.
Philodendron is known as an ornamental plant. The fleshy inflorescence, which grows from the leaf axils, is surrounded by flame bracts and bears numerous small flowers. Unfortunately, the flowers are not ornamental.
Philodendron giganteum is a larger variety.
