What is Prunus mume 'Fenhong Zhusac'
Prunus mume "Fenhong zhusac" is a cultivar of Prunus mume . The plum blossoms before the leaves develop. Fenhong zhusac has straight or oblique branches with no twisting or drooping. The woody parts of the new year branches are characterized by a deep red color. The leaves are ovate or elliptic, 4-8 cm long and 2.5-5 cm wide, with serrated margins and a gray-green color. The buds are elliptic, purplish-red, the petals light red, single, double or semi-oval, with many stamens and reddish threads. The petals are single, double or semi-double. It is not very cold hardy and blooms in late February to early March.
