What is Spirodela polyrhiz
Spirodela polyrhiz, (scientific name: Spirodela polyrhiza) is an aquatic plant of the genus Spirodela in the family Araceae that is found throughout the world. In Japan, it floats on the surface of lakes, marshes, rice paddies, and rivers in Hokkaido, Honshu, Shikoku, Kyushu, and Okinawa. The leaves and stem are a single unit, or "phloem," from which thin roots hang downwards. The leaflets are about 0.5 cm thick, green on the surface and purple on the underside, and grow in clusters of 3 to 4 leaflets each. White flowers may be produced on the underside of the leaves. It is expected to be a future biofuel. The language of flowers of white floating grass is "kind heart.
