Ajugoides humilis(scientific name: Ajugoides humilis) is a creeping perennial grass of the genus Ajugoides in the family Lamiaceae , endemic to Japan.. The entire plant is densely covered with hairs. It grows wild in the shade of forests in mountainous areas in Honshu, Shikoku, and Kyushu.
The grass is 5-10 cm tall with long rhizomes that creep up the ground.
It has two or three pairs of leaves on the top. The leaves are green, 3-7 cm long, 2-5 cm wide, and ovate with deep veins and wrinkles. The leaf margins have rounded serrations. The leaf base is wedge-shaped.
In July and August, short,inflorescences emerge from the leaf axils at the stem ends, producing one or two lip-shaped, pale red flowers 1.2 to 1.8 cm long. The lip-shaped flowers have two lips: the upper lip rises without dividing and has four stamens on the inside. The lower lip has three lobes. The outside of the flower tube is densely covered with hairs. The calyx is 0.7 cm long with 5 lobes and 10 veins. After the flower, there is a quadrate fruit about 0.2 cm long. The fruit is masculine and has three ridges,
