What is Camellia japonica 'Coronation'
Camellia masterpiece (scientific name: Camellia japonica 'Masterpiece') was registered in 1950 by Harvey F. Short of Ramona, California, USA, as a mutation of 'Gauntlettii'. It was registered in the U.S. as a mutation of 'Gauntlettii'. It is a vigorous and vigorous grower. The leaves are dark green and thick, 18 cm long and 1 cm wide, large ovals with distinct veins. The flowers are white, medium to large, 10-12.5 cm in diameter, rose-like, double, central height, and bloom from Jan. to Feb. It was awarded the RHS P.C. in 1961.
