Hotarubukuro or called as Campanula punctata (scientific name: Campanula punctata) is native Korea, China, Siberia and Japan, and is a hardy perennials of the family Campanulaceae. The name of the flower in Japan, "Hotarubukuro" is based on the bag into which the fireflies are placed.
There are variants of Campanula punctata. The native to Kinki area from the Northeast of Mainland, mountain and forest edge in Japan. From the rainy season in early summer, red-purple-light pink or white flowers bloom. Flowers in a radial symmetry, bell-shaped flowers flower tip is divided into five. Campanula hondoensis(scientific name:Campanula punctata var. hondoensis) is a flower of the same genus.There are differences between C. hondoensis and C. punctata appendage reflexed up between the calyx lobes, or no checks.
