What is Disporum viridescens
Disporum viridescens (scientific name: Disporum viridescens) is a perennial plant native to Japan, the Korean Peninsula, China, and Russia, belonging to the family Colchicaceae and the genus Disporum. It grows wild in rather light forests in the mountains of the Hokkaido to Tohoku and Chubu regions. The underground rhizomes grow in clusters, producing horizontally creeping plants. The herb is 40-70 cm tall and often branches out at the top. The leaves, which are attached to the ends of the short petioles, are ovate to oblong-elliptic, pointed, and alternate. It produces 2 to 3 downward-facing flowers at the stem end. The petals are 1.5 cm to 2 cm long and the petals are greenish white. The pistil of the pistil has three deep lobes and is recurved. The pistil is green and large, spherical. The flower column and the cotyledons are the same length. The fruit after the flower is a liquid berry 0.7 to 1 cm in diameter and ripens black.
