What is Mizugiku
Mizugiku (scientific name: Inula ciliaris) is a perennial herb in the Asteraceae family. It grows wild in spring-fed wetlands and marshes in the mountains of Honshu and Miyazaki Prefecture north of the Kinki region. The plant grows straight with a height of 25 to 50 cm. Yellow flowers (3.0-4 cm in diameter) bloom upward from July to October with a single capitate inflorescence at the stem end.
Characteristics
The yellow flowers, which resemble those of the Japanese spindle tree, grow wild in mountainous wetlands. The stems are hairy and the rhizomatous leaves are spatula-shaped.
