Khaya senegalensis or dry zone mahogany (scientific name: Khaya senegalensis) is an evergreen broad-leaved tree of the genus Khaya of the family Meliaceae, native to Senegal and other parts of Central Africa. It is found in savanna woodlands on the African continent. It is used as a substitute for mahogany in building materials, furniture, and veneers. The heartwood is brown and the lumber is light reddish brown. The trees are used as roadside trees, landscape trees, shade trees, and the bark is used for medical purposes and cosmetic whitening. The tree is 20-30 m tall with a trunk diameter of 1 m. The bark is dark gray to grayish brown. The bark is dark gray to grayish-brown and peels off in a scaly pattern.
