What is Taisanboku

Taisanboku, southern magnolia or bull bay (scientific name: Magnolia grandiflora) is native to North America and is an evergreen tall tree of the family Magnoliaceae. It is similar to white lotus, however larger white flowers are blooming in summer. There are fragrances in the flowers, and it is used as raw material for Magnolia perfume. The face side of the leaf is covered with a thick cuticle layer and has a shiny green color. The back of the leaf has dense hair and looks like a red-brown felt. There are similar species of flowers (Magnolia obovata) in similar flowers, leaf shape and leaf quality are clearly different.
