What is Nymphaea pubescens
Tropical Water Lily 'Sharpra',or Nymphaea pubescens, scientific name:Nymphaea pubescens, is native to South and Southeast Asia and is a member of the family Nymphaeaceae, genus Nymphaea. The rhizome is enlarged and creeping. The leaves are nearly cortical, ovate, and deeply lobed at the base, with unequally edged, angular serrations on the leaf margins. The leaf surface is dark green and hairless, and the underside is reddish brown with dense soft hairs. The flowers are white and pink and rise above the water. It is the national flower of the People's Republic of Bangladesh (Bangladesh BD). Hydroponic farming of shahpura is popular in Bangladesh.
