December Pink Flowers
There were 116 varieties of pink flowers that bloom in December in the Kagiken Hana Zukan.
Of these, the most prominent are sasanquas, camellias, orchids, early-blooming plums, primrose flowers, and orchids, which bloom steadily throughout the year.
(1) Sasanqua and camellia
In early winter, when cold weather sets in, sasanquas and camellias come into their own. Both are members of the camellia genus.
Camellia
Camellia japonica (camellia japonica), such as Utamaro (Camellia japonica 'Utamaro') and Momoware (Camellia japonica cv. Momoware), are in full bloom.
Sazanka
Sasanqua (Camellia sasanqua), including Camellia sasanqua 'Egao' (spring sasanqua) and Camellia sasanqua 'Shishigashira' (second group of camellia varieties), are in bloom.
(2) Ume plum and primrose
Plum blossoms
The extremely early plum blossoms, Primula malacoides comonly called as Fairy primrose or Baby Primrose (scientific name: Primula malacoides) and other primrose species begin to bloom.
(3) Orchids bloom almost all year round
In the orchid genus, orchids such as Moth orchid or Phalaenopsis aphrodite ( scientific name: Phalaenopsis aphrodite) and cymbidium (scientific name: Cymbidium sp.) continue to bloom in greenhouses and warm rooms at home.
