Ficus superb also known as Sea fig , scientific name : Ficus superba , is a semi-evergreen broadleaf tall tree belonging to the Moraceae family, native to Taiwan, China, Southeast Asia, and Japan. It grows naturally from central Japan southward to Kyushu and the Ryukyu Islands. Often referred to as a "strangler fig," it grows by sending out aerial roots from branches and trunks, attaching itself to other trees. Its leaves are elliptical with no gloss and arranged alternately. In spring, it produces fig-like inflorescences on short flower stalks directly from branches and trunks. The ripe fruits are edible.
