What is Isodon longitubus

Isodon longitubus,Trumpet spurflower, or Aki chouji (scientific name: Isodon longitubus) is a perennial herb in the family Lamiaceae native to Japan. The blue-purple, lip-shaped flowers bloom in the fall. This species is found in the shade of trees in the mountains of Japan from Gifu to Kyushu. The stem is square with a long, tubular tip that splits into two lip-shaped flowers. Japanese name of the flower comes from the fact that it produces a clove shaped flower in autumn. There is a similar flower, :Isodon effusus or 'Sekiya no aki chouji' (scientific name: Isodon effusus). While Akitouji (I. longitubus) is found in western Japan and has short petioles, Sekiya's Akitouji (I. effusus) is found in eastern Japan and has relatively long flowers, petioles and leaves.
