What is Pertya hybrid

Kakoma haguma (scientific name: Pertya × hybrid) is a perennial herb in the genus Pertya of the Asteraceae family. It was discovered by Dr. Tomitaro Makino in 1897 at Omiya Hachimangu Shrine in Suginami Ward, Tokyo. The plant is 30-80 cm tall and branched. The leaves have a petiole about 1 cm long, and at the end of the petiole is an ovate-elliptic leaf about 8 cm long and 6 cm wide, with three veins. The leaf margin has coarse toothed teeth. The leaves are smaller at the top. White head flowers are produced in September and October in the leaf axils at the top of the stem and at the tips of the branches. The name Kakoma Haguma is derived from the first letters of both, "ka" and "ko," and between the two heads, "ma," which is "kakoma," and "haguma," which resembles the hairs on the tail of the Tibetan yak. It is a one-generation hybrid of the Kashiwaba Haguma (oak-leaved white bear, scientific name: Pertya robusta) and the Koya Broom (Koya Broom, scientific name: Pertya scandens), so it does not bear fruit. Kakomahaguma has leaves similar to those of Kakushiwa, and its foliage is similar to that of Koyaboki, making it an intermediate species between the two.
