What is Pistacia vera
Pistachio (Pistacia vera) is a deciduous sub-tall tree of the genus Pistacia in the family Anacardiaceae, native to Central Asia, as well as its fruit.
The tree can grow up to 10 meters tall, which is relatively high for a fruit tree cultivated for harvesting, but since the fruit naturally falls when ripe, there is no need to limit the height of the tree.
The leaves are odd-pinnate compound leaves, measuring 10-20 cm in length.
Pistachio trees are dioecious (having separate male and female plants).
Although it belongs to the Anacardiaceae family, it is edible
Although pistachios belong to the Anacardiaceae family, their fruit becomes edible when heated.
Ripe pistachio fruits naturally split open and fall from the tree. These fruits, when roasted with their shells and salted, are called "pistachio nuts."
Unlike other nuts, which have an off-white interior, pistachios contain a high amount of chlorophyll (green pigment), giving them their characteristic green color.
Due to their vibrant green hue and rich, nutty flavor, pistachios are known as the "Queen of Nuts."
The main production areas include Iran, the United States, Turkey, Syria, and China.
