What is Vitis ficifolia

Vitis ficifolia or Ebiduru (scientific name: Vitis ficifolia) is a vine-like deciduous shrub in the family Vitaceae, native to Japan, the Korean Peninsula, and China. In Japan, it grows wild in mountainous areas and seaside thickets in Honshu-Shikoku and Kyushu, twining itself around other trees with its curly beard. It is dioecious. The vine can grow up to 5 meters long. The leaves are dark green and turn red in autumn. The leaves are 5 cm to 10 cm long, 5 cm to 8 cm wide, ovate with 3 to 5 deep lobes, and attached in alternate clusters. The leaf margins are serrated and the underside has spider hairs. From June to August, small yellow-green five-petaled flowers are densely produced from the middle of the tendrils or from the axils of the leaves in a grossly conical inflorescence, but the petals of the small flowers fall off with flowering.
